I hope everyone is adjusting well to the new time zone.
Please complete the feedback email that was sent to everyone, and please send me any pictures you’d like to go into the compilation picture CD of the tour.

Day 8: Finale

We are still at end of Day 7, but I will update since I won’t have a chance tomorrow.

Day 8 is a looooong day of travelling back into the States. We will wake up at 6 AM and ride into Prague airport, connect to Frankfurt then into Dulles at 3:40 PM.

I personally had a great time during the tour, as did all the chaperons. I am sure all the musicians had a great time on the tour.

I really hope this blog was very helpful to everyone that were following through the week. This blog will always be up for anybody to check whenever they want to look back on this wonderful week.

I really hope the seniors that travelled with us had a great experience and made great memories with us. We will miss you guys.

Day 7 Info and Pictures (updated)

Day 7 consisted of:

Tour of the Prague Castle: saw the cathedral up in the castle. Awsome indoor jousting room. And walked down to cross the St. Charles Bridge.
Another session of roaming Prague
Dinner cruise: a great finish to our tour. We cruised around the Moldau and had a great dinner. Took our pictures on the top of the boat. Saying good-byes to our seniors.

Day 6 Info and Pictures

Day 6 consisted of:

Jewish Quarter: we looked around the synagogues and temples, which during World War II was preserved as a “living museum”. Taking photos were restricted, so there really isn’t much pictures of inside the buildings.
Roaming of Prague: all the students had a chance to roam around Prague before the concert.
Concert at the St. Saviors Cathedral: the cathedral was very beautiful and was wonderful to play at. Although it was very echoey and hard to play in, it had a great ambiance and we played very well. At the concert, we had a really good turnout of audiences. Almost a packed house!! The musicians played a really great concert and the audiences’ responses definitely showed it, we played TWO encore pieces.

Day 5 Info and Pictures

Day 5 consisted of:

LONG BUS RIDES: we departed our hotel and had a beautiful bus ride through the countrysides of Austria and than in to Czech Republic. During our busride, we stopped into a “service area”. This really didn’t compare to the roadside McDonalds we are used to. It felt like walking into Whole Foods’ Bakery and Prepared food section.
Český Krumlov: this was a beautiful town/castle with amazing scenary. The weather finally cleared up for us and we had the beautiful sunshine throughout our time at this beautiful castle. The pictures will be much better than words.
Prague: we entered our destination and checked into the hotel.
Next few days, we will be roaming around Prague.

Day 4 Info and Pictures

Day 4 consisted of:

Tour of Eisenstadt: We first visited the Bergkirche, where Haydn was buried. Then we went to the Esterházy castle, where Haydn was the personal composer for the Esterházy family. The Esterházy castle had the Haydn museum, but unfortunately pictures were not allowed.
Concert at Tulln: We had our rehearsal and concert at Tulln. Concert at this venue went very well, the musicians were much more relaxed in this bigger stage. The crowd wasn’t as big as we expected due to the floods in the area, but those in attendance were very excited and we were very well received. The musicians did an amazing job, as you could see from the videos (link) and the pictures.

Regarding day 4

It will take a while to go through this and tomorrow will consist of a lot of travelling into Prague, so I will update Day 4 and 5 tomorrow.

Day 3 Photos

Day 3 consisted of:

Tour of the Schoenbrunn Castle: Hapsburg family’s summer home
Shopping and touring around streets of Vienna
Tour of the Mozarthaus: house of Mozart in Vienna, also where he wrote the Opera Marriage of Figaro.
Tour of Haus der Musik: the fun, interactive music museum. Learned about history of Vienna Philharmonic and also the musicians got to conduct a virtual Vienna Phil.
